Every piece is made to order. You choose the wood species, the dimensions, the finish and the hardware, and it’s built to that spec by hand. No particle board, no veneers, no shortcuts.

Woods: cherry, oak, walnut and maple, all kiln-dried and sourced from southern Ontario. Finishes: 30+ hand-applied stains, from pale natural tones to deep walnut. Custom sizing carries no upcharge, since everything is made to order anyway.

Build time runs 8 to 12 weeks from the day you confirm the order. Staff give you a firm timeline once the details are locked.

What You'll See on the Floor

Photos flatten wood grain and finish. In person you can put your hand on a cherry tabletop, compare it against maple in the same stain, and see how the colour actually reads in daylight. That comparison is why the showroom visit is worth it for most Oakville customers.

The people working the floor know the product from the build side. Ask how a finish wears over ten years, or whether oak or maple holds up better in a busy house, and you’ll get a straight answer from someone who actually knows wood.

Penwood's 20+ master builders work in Mennonite woodworking communities across southern Ontario. Hand tools, kiln-dried hardwood, full mortise-and-tenon joinery, no particle board cores. It's the same method the shop has used since 1993.
