Furniture Store Serving Guelph, ON

Custom Solid Wood Furniture for Guelph Homes

Nothing on the floor is stock. You choose the wood species, the dimensions, the finish and the hardware, and the piece gets built to that spec. A dining table for a century home near the University of Guelph and one for a newer build in the south end are sized differently, and we build for the room, not a catalogue size.

Woods: cherry, oak, walnut and maple. Finishes: 30+ hand-applied stains. Build timing varies by piece, builder and selected options. We confirm the estimated timeline with your order.

We build full dining sets, bedroom furniture, home office pieces and living room storage.

What Makes It Penwood

For every tree Penwood uses, two get planted, and every board that comes into the shop gets used somewhere in a build. That’s not a slogan for us. It’s how a family business run out of farm workshops has operated since 1993, and it’s the same reason a lot of Guelph customers, in a city that takes its agricultural roots seriously, end up choosing Penwood over furniture that’s shipped in and replaced in a decade. The money from an order goes back to the craftsperson who built it and the rural Ontario community they work in.

At the Morriston showroom you can compare wood species and finishes side by side in daylight, and the staff will walk you through how each one wears over time.

The Craft Behind the Furniture

Our 20+ master builders work in Mennonite woodworking communities across southern Ontario. Hand tools, kiln-dried Canadian hardwood, no particle board cores. The method hasn’t changed since 1993.

Every order traces back to a specific shop and a named craftsperson.
